The Antique Shops and Their Inventory

The Good, Better, "Best" Workshops are held at the two shops of Washington Square Antiques, Inc. in Old Town Alexandria, VA. The shops are located within two blocks of each other in the gallery and shopping district of historic Alexandria, VA. What makes The Good, Better, "Best" Appraiser Workshop unique is that students will have the opportunity to inspect and examine any of the pieces within the two shops. To facilitate the "hands on" active learning experience the shops will be closed to the general public during the Workshop. As an appraiser interested in furniture, you may wish to inspect and identify any of the numerous pieces within the shop, if your interest leans to the Fine Arts, there is a wide collection of oil paintings to review, examine and inspect. You, as a participant of the Good, Better, "Best" Workshop decides what is important to you and what is not.

Washington Square Antiques, Inc. has been an active member of the Old Town Alexandria, Virginia antique community for over 25 years. Washington Square Antiques, Inc. regularly participates in select Antiques shows in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area including the Hunt Valley Antiques Show, the Chevy Chase Antiques Show, the Historic Alexandria Foundation's Antiques Show, and the Annapolis Heritage Antiques Show.

The inventory of the two shops consists primarily of 18th, 19th, and select early 20th century American and English furniture. The inventory emphasizes a full range of high quality antique furniture, including case pieces, upholstered furniture and decorative arts. The shop also has a fine and ever changing collection of American and English fine art. Decorative accessories, including antique American and English brass fireplace tools, andirons and fenders are a specialty. The shop also offers Oriental, Continental and English porcelains and a fine selection of 19^th and early 20^th Century silver and silver plate.
