JANE C. BRENNOM, ISA CAPP
Jane Brennom is a certified appraiser of personal property (CAPP) and a certified
member of International Society of Appraisers. The CAPP designation is the highest level of recognition the Society can
bestow. Her specialty designation is “Antiques and Residential Contents” (ARC)
known as a generalist personal property appraiser but she also appraises Fine
Art.
In 2005
Jane won the “Lamp Of Knowledge Award” at the National ISA Conference in
Chicago. This prestigious award is for
a singular outstanding educational work product pertaining to the appraisal
profession as a whole. Jane's work
consisted of her contribution of scholarly appraisal articles in the Antiquer
magazine. She wrote a monthly column in
this New York based magazine called
"For What It's Worth".
She
served two terms as President in 2003-2004 of the ISA Gulf Coast Chapter
and served as Treasurer in 2001. Between 2001 and 2004 Jane served as Chair
and Vice-Chair of the Awards Committee for the ISA National organization. Jane was chosen in 2001 to participate in the
first “Leadership ISA” (LISA) program for developing leaders in ISA and served
as a mentor in the program for leadership development. She served as
the ISA Gulf Coast Chapter Ex-Officio, Chapter Liaison and Historian. Over the years Jane has served on many
committees of ISA and will take over as Chair in 2008 of the Antiques and
Residential Contents Division of ISA.
Her
company, Zaisan Enterprises, Inc. provides services relating to personal
property appraising in the following areas:
Estates, Charitable Contributions, Family Division, Bankruptcy,
Insurance, Expert Witness Testimony, Valuation Consult, Pre-Auction Estimates,
Restoration Advice, and Broker/Market Research.
Jane participates each year as a guest appraiser at various “Antique
Appraisal Fairs” She is an annual vetter (vetting is a process of
examination and evaluation) for the Houston Antiques Dealers Association
(HADA) Antique Shows in Houston. She is also an instructor/lecturer for
students of antiques and speaks publicly to various organizations
annually. Jane will be teaching Appraisal Methodology for International
Society of Appraisers in 2008 as one of ISA's newly appointed
instructors.
TODD W. SIGETY, ISA CAPP
Todd W. Sigety is a certified member of the
International Society of Appraisers, and is currently serving as Chairman of
the ISA Technology Committee. With a
certification in Antiques and Residential Contents, he is qualified to
appraise a wide range of fine and decorative arts, although he is known
primarily for his expertise in appraising, evaluating and authenticating period
English and American antique furniture.
He is a recipient of the ISA Publications award for a series of articles
on world furniture which have now been published as a book, World Furniture: An
Introduction to Regions, Styles, Periods and Tastes. He is currently the editor
of the National Capital Area Chapter ISA newsletter, VALUES, and webmaster and
developer of the chapter website, for which he won the ISA Media award. He is a past feature writer on antique
furniture for a national decorative arts publication and continues to write for
select publications. He is also an
active public speaker on antiques and appraising, with presentations to local
and national collecting and appraisal organizations.
His commentary and expertise on appraising antique
furniture and the antiques industry have appeared in national magazines and
trade publications such as the Maine Antique Digest, Style and Décor Magazine,
The New England Journal of Antiques and The Antiquer. His two antique galleries in Old Town
Alexandria, Washington Square Antiques, Inc. specialize in 18th and
early 19th century American and English furniture, fine art and
appropriate accessories.
With a diverse background in business and many years
of experience in the antiques and decorative arts field, Todd and WSA
Appraisals are uniquely qualified to execute professional written appraisals
and opinions of value on fine and decorative art for insurance, estates,
charitable donations and equitable distributions. Todd is a graduate of
the Connoisseurship program in Fine and Decorative Arts from George Washington University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Virginia Bankers School at the University of Virginia.
